Obituary for Loren C Buckner

Loren C. Buckner, born a preemie at Mercy hospital in Denver, CO on June 7th 1952, was a fighter. Loren passed away April 1st 2019, after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his sister Janet Buckner, nieces Stephanie Luck, Dacia Dyer and nephew Tristan Dyer. Preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Buckner and Bertha Buckner, and sister Janine Dyer.

Loren worked for many years at Storage Tech, and was proud of the work he did there. With the advent of personal home computers, his job involved working with data, memory and creating floppy discs and disc drives. After a change in career path, and with much determination with the goal of helping others, he pursued his associates degree and became a pharmacy technologist.

Loren loved his family. He grew up in Olde Town Arvada and had great adventures with his dad, mom and two sisters. Later, he was an adoring uncle, who fostered the love of outdoors with his nieces and nephew. Loren enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, hunting and horseback riding. Among his other loves were music, going to concerts and hockey. Especially hockey. Loren’s love of hockey was started at the very young age of 8 and loved playing center for many teams and coached hockey as well.

Loren received the devastating diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease at age 57, but nothing stopped him. He kept going to the skating rink and riding his bike, until he couldn’t any longer. Loren would be described as sweet, nice, docile, and gentle. His gentle nature assured him friendships wherever he went. He would love to make silly jokes that would crack people up, and loved to get a good laugh out of people. Was ornery, and stubborn, which were assets to him when fighting Parkinson’s. He was patient and kind. He was independent, funny and spirited. He was also deeply religious, and looked forward to a heaven, where he would suffer from a disease no more. He loved his family and friends.

Most importantly, he was tremendously loved and will be incredibly missed.

Funeral services will be at Lutheran Medical Center chapel, 8300 W. 38th Avenue, Wheat Ridge CO. 80033, on April 26th at 10:00 am. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Loren’s memory to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies, 1325 S Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80222, (303) 830-1839.
