Obituary for Harry Jacob Moos

Harry Jacob Moos, loving husband, father, and dedicated grandfather, passed away Friday, September 6th, 2019. Born on November 10th, 1937, in Hebron, ND to Christ and Katie Moos. One of seven children, he was raised on a farm, and that work ethic was apparent his entire life. He served in the 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army from 1961-1963 in both the U.S. and Germany. He was employed with the City of Arvada in the Street Department as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1999. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 161 for 30 years, performing funerals at Fort Logan National Cemetery as part of the Honor Guard. He also spent many years volunteering at the National Western Stock Show and as a Park Ranger at Arvada Reservoir. Harry never met a stranger, he had a conversation with everyone who crossed his path, and a joke for any occasion. He loved to play pranks, especially on his granddaughters, and the laughs he left behind are priceless. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, he was taken from us far too suddenly and much too soon.

Married almost 55 years, he is survived by his wife Mavis, two sons Steven (Sally) of Loveland and Kevin (Donna) of Berthoud, granddaughters Stephanie, Courtney, Erica and Alyssa: brother Irvin (Sharon) Moos of Dickinson, ND and sisters Verla Heim of Dickinson, ND and Clara Metzger of Rapid City, SD.
He was preceded in death by sisters Lorraine Blumhardt, Deloris Bauer and Alma Stein.

The memorial service will be held Monday, September 16th, at 9:15 am. Internment will follow at Fort Logan at 11:30 am, with a celebration of life luncheon at the American Legion Post 161 at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harry’s honor to

the American Legion, Post 161.
